ENRICO BUSIA is an Italian tenor specializing in early music. He performed the title role in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in New York (Renaissance Chorus half staged production) and the Czech Republic (Let’s sing opera production) as well as the roles of “Pastore” and “Apollo” in the same opera at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza (2017) and during the 2024 Let’s Sing Opera tour in Italy and Greece.

 

Recent engagements include Monteverdi’s Vespers in Oslo and the role of Testo in Monteverdi’s Combattimento in Reykjavik and Florence. He has appeared as a soloist at various festivals, including the Roma Baroque Festival, Autunno in musica Treviso, Amici della musica Padova, Flo.re Florence, and the Festival de Música BAC Credomatic in Costa Rica.

 

After initial studies in his hometown of Florence, he earned a Bachelor of Music in classical singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig under Prof. Carola Guber. He then completed a Master of Music in Baroque singing/Early Music at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, studying with Gemma Bertagnolli, Peter Kooij, and Bettina Pahn. In 2022–2023, he attended the AVES (Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies) program at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, under the guidance of Paul Agnew, Stratton Bull, and Björn Schmelzer. He is tutored by prof. Charlotte Lehmann (Hannover).

 

In addition to his musical education, he studied Linguistics at the University of Florence. Besides working as a freelance early music singer and singing teacher, he is active as an Italian teacher and Italian language coach for opera singers.
